USCA (March 26, 2009) During the recent "Making Change Work Fly-In" U.S. Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) was presented with the U.S. Cattlemen’s Association (USCA) outstanding achievement award. On behalf of AMS, Deputy Administrator Craig Morris accepted the award. AMS Acting Administrator David Shipman and AMS Associate Deputy Administrator William Sessions were also in attendance.
USCA President Jon Wooster stated, “USCA appreciates USDA – AMS’ continued positive work on the Beef Checkoff and country of origin labeling (COOL). The U.S. cattle industry has benefited from AMS’ tireless efforts in addressing producer input and concerns regarding these important issues. USCA’s “Top Hand” award is its highest recognition, and this was the first time an award was presented to a USDA agency.”
Deputy Administrator Morris stated, “USDA - AMS has an open door to all industry groups and strives to address concerns and gather input. We are both humbled and honored to receive recognition from the individuals that we serve. Our goal is to ensure that livestock producers are content with the work being done. We’ll continue to work hard to keep the respect and appreciation of livestock producers.”
“Working on COOL and the Beef Checkoff is not an easy task,” noted Wooster, “However, AMS has done an excellent job so far, and we look forward to continuing our dialogue and collaboration with them.”
