MONTANA AND IDAHO

Dennis McDonald, Region VI: Montana and Idaho

Andrew Jackson once said that the brave man inattentive to his duty is worth little more to his country than the coward who deserts in the hour of danger.  Dennis McDonald will never be accused of either.

Born in Salina, Kansas in 1944, McDonald and his wife, Sharon, ranch near Melville, Montana where they run a cow/calf operation and raise registered Quarter Horses.  They have four children, Kelly(28); Courtney (23); Casey (22) and Clay (20).

McDonald received his law degree from San Francisco Law School and practiced law in the Bay Area for 20 years before moving his family to Montana to ranch full time.  He is a past president of Montana Cattlemen’s Association, and served a term on the Agricultural Trade Advisory Committee for Livestock.  McDonald has traveled extensively speaking passionately about cattle industry issues - from coast to coast and border to border.  He’s traveled internationally leading fact-finding teams in Central and South America to research the impact of trade agreements on U.S. producers and representing the U.S. cattle industry during international trade negotiations.

McDonald is a past president of Montana Cattlemen’s Association and has worked tirelessly as an advocate for grassroots producers.  He believes heart and soul that agriculture is the backbone of America and that U.S. cattle producers raise the best product in the world.

McDonald is a USCA interim director representing Region VI.
